Ingredient
Squalane
A lightweight oil that mimics skin's own natural lipids to hydrate and reinforce the moisture barrier without feeling greasy or blocking pores. Originally derived from shark liver, it's now sustainably sourced from sugarcane or olive oil — non-comedogenic, stable, and suitable for all skin types including oily and acne-prone. Works at any concentration; even small amounts provide noticeable softening.

Combinations that work
- Hyaluronic AcidSealing
Hyaluronic acid pulls water into the upper layers but does not hold it there. Squalane applied on top slows the evaporation — in dry indoor air, hyaluronic acid without an occlusive can leave skin tighter than before.
- RetinolTolerance
Squalane is close to the skin's own sebum, so it cushions retinol without diluting it. Applied afterwards it reduces the flaking of the adjustment period.
- CeramidesSealing
Ceramides replace what the barrier is missing; squalane seals the whole thing without an occlusive heaviness. Between them they address both the composition and the loss.
Combinations to avoid
Squalane has no documented conflicts with anything else in this library. It can sit anywhere in a routine.
